Nasarawa gets sugar factory from Dangote Group
The Dangote Group says all is set to begin construction work at the site of a proposed sugar processing factory at Tunga, in Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
A team from Dangote Group visited Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Government House on Tuesday saying that Chairman of the Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has directed contractors handling the project to mobilise to the site.
A spokesman of the team, Maryoud Elsunni, told the Governor that when completed, the factory will provide employment opportunities to some 1000 persons from that community alone.
According to him, “soon, we will bring some guys here to start and it will create direct employment for the local people.
“The contractor is coming with some highly skilled personnel but will engage thousands of local people to build the structures.”
In his response, the Governor noted that since it takes sugarcane about one year to grow, it will take approximately three years for an investor to produce enough sugarcane that will be crushed to produce sugar.
Sule said, “when there is peace and stability, things flourish and opportunities flourish.”
