Nasarawa First Lady sues for unity among northern women
Nasarawa State First Lady, Hajiya Silifat Abdullahi Sule has called for unity and development of the northern region of the country,, especially womanhood.
She made the call when she received in audience the State leadership of Northern woman’s group known as Jam’iyyar Matan Arewa at her office in Government House Lafia on today Thursday.
Silifat Sule maintained that with commitment and sincerity of purpose, northern women have all it takes to turn around the morals of the upcoming generations and also contribute meaningfully to the development of the region.
The First Lady further enjoined women as mothers to ensure proper upbringing of their children in order to have good future leaders, just as she decried the high rate of drug abuse and other social vices in society.
Earlier, leader of the delegation and a retired Permanent Secretary in the Nasarawa State, Hajiya Sa’adatu Agede stated that the delegation was at the office to pledge their support to the State Government in its efforts to ensure lasting unity and peaceful coexistence.
Sa’adatu Agede informed the First Lady that the association which dates back to the Sir Ahmadu Bello era, was revived during the Former President Goodluck Jonathan regime with the aim of having a voice for the northern women.
The visit featured the presentation of an appointment letter to the First Lady as Matron of the association, Nasarawa State.
