Promoting community participation only way to Development—JJ Umaru

 

A political bigwig from Nasarawa North senatorial zone, Hon. Jeremiah J. Umaru said his core mandate was mobilized for community participation which is the only alternative to peace and development of the society.

 

He stated this at the annual Galle Day celebration held at GSS Galle, Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

 

The Honorable JJ Umaru hold many traditional titles to include, Jakada Wamba, Gaddo da Masubu, Ciroma Gitaklogba and Jorowuru of Nasarawa North from Wamba Local Government urged people, especially youths, on the need to embrace useful venture that would better their lives.

 

According to him, “I’m very happy because I’m a community man, and when communities like these are gathered to celebrate themselves, I’m always there, whether invited or not because we cannot wait for government to do things for us; we need to do things to continue to organize our communities because if we do not organize our communities, there is no way we would have progress, there’s no way development would come. So, what is happening here is a way of uniting the people, bringing the people together for development and progress,’ he said.

 

On how he intends to take this initiative to his own community, JJ Umaru declared that his kindred can testify the recent program he organized just to preach message of togetherness.

 

He noted that “Already we’ve been doing it in my community. If you’ve heard of the Sisimbati Carnival, I’m the host of that carnival, and there are other programmes in Sisimbaki in Wamba as a whole. What is the idea? The idea is to bring everybody together, so we’ll be able to achieve progress and development, basically”.
